The City of Cathedral City is asking the community for feedback on cannabis odors. We track and measure cannabis odors to better understand and minimize them. This information helps to identify the most likely path/source of the specific odors. The information (date, time, location, type of odor) that you provide is reviewed by staff as complaints are received. Staff will run a trajectory (path) report that utilizes the location you provided along with local weather, wind direction/speed, and other environmental factors to determine the potential odor source.
The results of these community cannabis odor complaints provide valuable data that will be shared with the Code Compliance Division to help guide discussions of potential odor sources and reduction efforts. A better understanding of cannabis odors will help in the continual improvements being made to minimize continued violations. If you would like a copy of the trajectory report, please indicate that on the form. We will send that report to you in the following days.
While most odors are contained within cannabis facilities, certain factors can cause odors to drift into nearby areas. Several conditions may increase the chances of odors being more noticeable:
- Weather Changes: Calm air, changes in wind direction, or temperature shifts (e.g., cooler morning/evening air) can make odors more noticeable.
- Staffing Shift Changes: During shift changes, certain processes may temporarily release stronger odors.
- Maintenance or Repairs: Routine maintenance or repair work on equipment may result in temporary odors.
Please complete all fields so that we can accurately register your report.
We are committed to improving our odor management efforts, and your feedback is crucial to helping us reduce odor in the community. Thank you for your understanding.
